The former monastery of Raitenhaslach, which houses the TUM Science & Study Center today, is located beautifully at a bend of the river Salzach on the southeastern border of Bavaria to Austria. Cistercian monks founded a convent here in 1146, starting a monastic tradition which lasted for more than 650 years. In 2003, the municipality of Burghausen purchased the historical buildings and soon after agreed to a cooperation with the Technical University of Munich. After nearly a decade of renovation and restoration works, the TUM Science & Study Center was officially opened in June 2016 as a conference center that aims to promote academic debate as well as intercultural and social dialog. TUM members are especially welcome to hold symposiums, seminars and workshops here, but the Science & Study Center is open to local companies and individuals as well. Historical atmosphere combined with modern comfort and nature close at hand add to the unique “Raitenhaslach experience”.
